Personal Development
text
At Ebbsfleet Green Primary School, we believe that education is about much more than academic success; it is about helping every single child grow into a happy, confident, and well-rounded individual. Our Personal Development programme is designed to nurture the "whole child," equipping them with the life skills, emotional intelligence, and resilience they need to thrive both now and in their future.
We want our pupils to leave us not just as great learners, but as kind, responsible, and active citizens who believe in themselves and their ability to make a positive difference in the world.
Personal development is woven into every lesson, assembly, and playground interaction. Here is how we support your child's journey:
Building Character and Resilience
Drawing on our core values, we actively teach children how to develop strong character traits. Through our entrepreneurial curriculum, children are encouraged to:
Be Adaptable: Learning how to bounce back from mistakes and view challenges as opportunities to grow.
Be Innovative: Building the confidence to think for themselves, solve problems, and share their unique ideas.
Be Collaborative: Learning the art of teamwork, compromise, and supporting their peers.
Health, Happiness, and Relationships
A child cannot learn effectively if they do not feel safe and happy. Through our carefully sequenced PSHE (Personal, Social, Health and Economic) and Relationships Education, we help children:
Understand and manage their own emotions and mental wellbeing.
Form positive, healthy, and respectful relationships with friends and family.
Learn how to keep their bodies healthy and how to stay safe, both in the real world and online.
Developing a Moral Compass (SMSC)
We guide our children’s Spiritual, Moral, Social, and Cultural (SMSC) development to help them understand their place in the world. We give children the space to:
- Reflect on their own beliefs and develop empathy for the beliefs and cultures of others.
- Understand the difference between right and wrong, and take responsibility for their own actions.
- Embrace fundamental British Values, including democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect, so they are fully prepared for life in modern Britain.
Finding Their Voice and Independence
We believe that every child deserves to be heard. We build self-esteem by giving children real responsibilities and opportunities to lead within the school. Whether it is representing their class on the Student Council, leading an initiative, or simply gaining the confidence to speak up in a group, we teach children that their voice matters.
Celebrating Individuality
Ebbsfleet Green is a fully inclusive community where difference is celebrated. We teach our children to treat everyone with dignity and respect. Through exposure to a wide range of extra-curricular clubs, community projects, and enrichment activities, we help every child discover their own personal passions and talents.
